How’s it going? I hope everyone is doing well and enjoying the outdoors. Camping season is drawing to a close soon for my family and me. I’m not sure where the summer went but I can say we made the most of our time together!
Things have sure ramped up a bit in the HLAA world at both the Chapter level and State Association level.
The HLAA Rochester Chapter, originally planned for our monthly programs to be in a hybrid format, both in person and virtual. We were gradually going to return to a larger number of “in person” sessions. Unfortunately, those plans will not happen due to the health based uncertainties of these times. We want to do what is best to keep our attendees safe.
It has been decided that all HLAA Rochester Chapter activities shall remain strictly virtual in September and October. My guess is our virtual style programing will remain this way until sometime in late spring. Hopefully, I will be proven wrong. Look for the latest programing information on the Rochester Chapter’s website, www.hearinglossrochester.org, or call the Chapter Hotline, 585-266-7890 and listen to the recorded message.
As for updates of The HLAA New York State Association (NYSA), I would like to share some of the latest “off the press news” concerning the upcoming 2022 HLAA NYSA State Conference. We have set up a Survey Monkey link to help in our planning. Our team would like to get an idea of who plans to be at the Conference, the programs people would like to attend, and a bit of related information. The survey will only take you a few minutes and help us provide a Stellar State Conference!
Please be on the lookout for the survey. You can also find the link on our website www.hearinglossnys.org. If, for some reason you can’t access the link please reach out to us via our email hlaa.newyorkstate@gmail.com or call the Rochester Chapter 585-266-7890, to have your message forwarded. It is crucial that we hear from as many people as possible!
As a reminder The 2022 HLAA NYSA State Conference will be at the historic Queensbury Hotel in the quaint town of Glens Falls, New York, September 16th, 17th & 18th, 2022. All activities and programs where appropriate, will be looped and CART will be provided.
Another huge news flash concerning the State Conference is the announcement (drum roll please), that Justin Osmond has committed to be our special guest and Keynote Speaker! Justin is the nephew of Donny and Marie Osmond. Did you know that there is hearing loss in the Osmond family? I personally did not realize this but have since become familiar with the Osmond family history and their journey with hearing loss. It is quite an extraordinary journey and I am sure all that attend the keynote session will feel the same!
Mark your calendar for Saturday December 6th, 2021. That will be the next HLAA NYSA Annual Membership Meeting, via ZOOM. We will report the latest updates of all our activities and be available for Q&A from our members.
Are you a member of the HLAA NYSA? You are automatically a member of our State Association if you fulfill two requirements: First, you must reside in New York State and second, you’ll need to be a member of HLAA National. If you have not already joined or need to renew, please consider doing so at: https://www.hearingloss.org. By joining you are supporting the efforts of both HLAA and the HLAA NYSA. Until next time and as always…
“Thank you for your support!”
