Dr. Joseph G. Perino, Ph.D., a Long Island-based member of the HLAA New York State Association Board of Directors and a practicing psychologist who has hearing loss, delivered a very well-received workshop In Lousivlle, KY this month at the 2026 HLAA National Convention. His topic: “How to Deal with the Emotional Aspects of Hearing Loss.”
During his workshop, Dr. Perino shared that “the most important relationship you have is the one you have with yourself.” He added, “As a practicing psychologist who has hearing loss, I see that the most difficult part of hearing loss is not the loss of sound but the emotional burden it carries.” For a summary of his presentation made at the HLAA National Convention, please click here.
