NYS Residents: Urgent Action Requested

Message from Katherine Bouton & HLAA-NYC…

If you are a New York State resident, please urge Governor Kathy Hochul to sign Bill A05683 into law. This bill establishes a State Commission for the Deaf, Deaf-Blind, and Hard of Hearing, similar to commissions in 39 other states. Last year the Governor vetoed a similar bill.

You can make your voice heard in two ways:

  1. Call the Governor’s Office – (518) 474-8390. State your name and hometown with zip code.
  2. Send an email via this webpage: https://www.governor.ny.gov/content/governor-contact-form with the message below. Topic = Disabilities.

Gov. Hochul: New York State’s hundreds of thousands of residents with hearing disabilities need a Commission for the Deaf, Deaf-Blind, and Hard of Hearing. Please sign A05683 into law.

Thanks for your support,

Katherine Bouton, President, HLAA-NYC
